Age of Empires 2 and Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2
Those were the undisputed kings of “just one more game” meaning “I’ll be up until 3am”
I had syndrome “one last turn” in Civilization and Total War. And then Sun was suddenly rising.
Any enlisted match feels like I’m playing for hours a match
I love supremacy on Battlefront 2. I used to play the game just to get achievements but I now I play it for fun
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War + expansions
I remember I once had a 200 kill game in that mode, it was such a shame Battlefront stopped getting updates once it reached a great state to instead develop battlefield 2042
I got that when I captured my first castle in M&B: Warband. It felt like I found the game I always wanted but didn’t knew it existed.
ctf_2fort and plr_hightower. Nuff said lol
A day cycle on Stardew Valley
Bannerlord is rediculous. Everytime I start it, 9 hours pass. The battles are just addictingly epic and there is always something to do
Alterac Valley in WoW
Could spend a whole day in a single match, go to bed and sleep all night, wake up and join the same fucking match again.
Just one more Stellaris game. It totally won’t take an extra 80 hours.
Battlefield 1 on frontline, on a good session it would go back and forth for ages. Loved those tense moments where you’d be pushed back super quick to turn it around to be pushed back again whilst a crazy fight for the middle point kept happening
Halo 1 port on PC with online multiplayer. CTF matches would go on for hours and hours and hours and it was to this day some of the most fun I’ve ever had in an MP game.
Imagine Sins of a Solar Empire (Lifetime).
Hell Let Loose the average game timer is an hour and fifteen to an hour and a half long. Many many times it’s gone down to the last second with both sides throwing everything they’ve got at it, and matches pitching back and forth where both teams have been down to their last base before pushing the enemy back.
BF1 operations, a round would take 30+ mins but damn they were action packed.
Diablo and Diablo II. Time moved way too fast when I played those.
Battlefield 1 had a game mode (I wanna say it was front lines or something?) that before it was patched would sometimes run matches that’d last 1-2 hours. It was amazing and so much freaking fun. I miss that game 😩
Gonna be honest I really thought this was the ps2 version of battlefront 2 for a minute and I got excited now I’m just dissapointed but yeah capital supremecy can go on for a insanely long time if both teams are skilled, I remember my team boarding the enemy ship 4 damn times until we finally blew it up and they only boarded us once
Finding the next saving checkpoint in Final Fantasy VII
Original alterac Valley in wow 2005-2006
BF2142’s titan mode.
Assault or Onslaught on Unreal Tournament 2004.
Don’t know if is my childish memories playing tricks on me or if those modes really took a long ass time to finish, but I remember taking an awful amount of time, specially assaults. Was two rounds , one attacking and one defending, the later was the absolutely worst.
Old school Alterac Valley in WOW. I still miss it.
Operations in BF1 and BF5
Capture the Flag on 2Fort
Operations in BF1. Obviously same creators so not too surprising
Battlefield 2142, Titan Mode
When you assault the ship and get to that final corridor leading up to the reactor room. The stand-off there could take forever.
God that game was good.
“just one more turn” in a late game 10 hour long alpha Centauri game. The turns took like 30 minutes.
Supremacy was only good in the prequel era because going aboard the ships was the fun part
Dude, games of this lasting 2 hours occurred more than once…
I had like 300+ kills and it was just one giant clone wars episode that turned into a full movie.
This mode tested your willpower
Warfare in Hell Let Loose. Two competent teams can make a match last a couple hours with constant outmaneuvering and flanking.
the strategy game mode of the real Battlefront 2, probably. For a while space battles were what I’d turn on when I specifically wanted something to take a while, but then I started getting pretty good with bombers
Damn I wish they could make a battlefront 3 with galactic conquest
The original Alterac Valley in WoW.
The matches would go on for weeks. You could literally not play for a few days and then jump back into the same match you played before taking the days off.
It was fun and had some truly epic battles.
I used to miss the school bus squeezing in “one more game” with Twisted Metal: Black
A long (>1 hour) DRG mission does the trick
Offense in Hell Let Loose
You get 30 mins to capture each of 5 points. Literally every point we captured in the last 5 minutes. >2 hour game that was a nail biter the whole time
Man, those supremacy matches can last for hours if both teams are good. I know I had one match that lasted almost three hours because we just kept going back and forth on each other ships. I think the player with the most kills ended up with something like 500 kills which is insane. If they make a third battlefront, I hope they expand on that game mode because it was always a blast to play!
Starting a vs match in Advance Wars on the biggest map with the highest starting money. Lasted 8 hours but it was intense the whole time
Mass Effect 3 multiplayer games typically run somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes, which doesn’t always feel like that long, but makes it so you can’t really just play a pickup game here and there. This is one of the things they genuinely fixed in Andromeda, making you do one fewer objective round and making it generally more approachable.
Also, Total Mayhem matches in Overwatch have been known to go on for an hour or longer in some cases
I did this with XCOM. It was early in the day at 7am but by the time I finished it was midnight. I stopped playing ever since.
Sins of a Solar Empire
Was an RTS technically but everything took so long to move out that the shortest game would be around 2.5 hours. I had a lot of fun watching the ship armada shooting it out though.
Alterac Valley PvP in World of Warcraft could sometimes have games that literally lasted all day.
Team fortress 2 2fort is heavy chokeful , the snipers have a clean vision of you , and the time you arrive through the only avaible path you can take , the engineers will make sentry nests on level 3 , you cannot so anything about it , that is why there are “normies” , “idiots” , “friendlies” and “2fort residents” is the way the spread the people of team fortress 2
2k ticket operation locker. Pretty sure I have PTSD from it. Truly amazing experience.
