they don’t know do they.
Is Watership Down next?
Wasn’t the beginning traumatic but then it was okish?
Updates? It’s been 58 minutes.
This guy pretending his kids will stay focused on the same thing for an hour straight 🤣
The Fox & The Hound is up next…
Saw Bambi in the theater as a kid. Wouldn’t remember at all but my mom reminds me sometimes how we didn’t finish the movie because I apparently lost my shit and was inconsolable
As a child, my dad told me that she was hit with a tranquilizer and taken to the zoo. I almost interrupted a discussion about the movie in 4th grade to volunteer this fact when it finally clicked.
Oh boy… There’ll be drama! But valuable life lessons in those old Disney movies
“Your mother can’t be with you any more…”
Land Before Time next then.
Double Down!
I have watched this movie over 50 times in less than a month. My 2yr old daughter loves it, and only goes “no Bambi mom!” when she’s killed. However, this is the same one who wanted to pet a deer carcass and said “it’s so cute” when we finished skinning it. She just apparently loves deer, no matter what.
Try the astrid lindgreen film “brothers lionheart”.
first the brother dies of tuberculosis but dont worry, the other brother wont miss him long cause he dies also.
then they go to some fantasy world… and die again just for good measure
Fucking rekt
Why do children’s movie writers insist on always killing off a parent? This is a child’s absolute worst nightmare.
I really don’t get why this is a theme in so many children’s stories.
Maybe “Charlottes Web” before bed if you really want to fuck them up.
I’m over 50 and still won’t watch any movie where a dog dies except John Wick because he kills everyone associated with the act.
I can hear it now. “What happens to Bambi’s mom?”
Play Dumbo right afterwards to cheer them up.
Is it weird that I didn’t even know the mother got shot?
Oh, and in case you’re wondering, “What about the gunshot sound?” I thought it was part of the score.
My Nana took me to the movies to see Bambi. I can clearly remember being carried out crying. I was 3.
oooh.. oh the trauma.. of it all.
I put on frankenweenie for my kids. Didn’t think that one through.
Truthfully, I deer you to die… Bembi.
I showed my 6 year old E.T. just before Halloween. When ET “dies” she lost it.
Edit
Watching the downvotes come in from adults who haven’t been to therapy yet
“OK, OK! I’ll put on Old Yeller instead!”
Aw – those smiles! Just a fun deer family.
Put on “Where the Red Fern Grows.”
Haha yeah i did that with my nibblings and forgot about how it ended..they really wanted to finish it. They did but in tears. Le’ sigh.
My mom took me to the bathroom during the scene where the mom dies. I was a teenager before I found out. I love my mom!
Oooh! Oooh! Show them *A.I.* next!
As if Bambi is the only Classic Disney movie that violently kills someone. I can think of maybe one or two that DON’T either imply or directly indicate that someone was killed – usually in a brutal way. These are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
* Bambi – Mother dear is shot by hunter.
* Snow White – Witch falls off of a cliff after the dwarves corner her.
* The Little Mermaid – Ursula is impaled by the stem of a ship. (Bonus: The Chef delighting in killing creatures for his meals.)
* Beauty and the Beast – No one fights like Gaton! No one cheats like Gaston. No one falters, and tumbles, and splats like Gaston!
* Aladdin – That guy Jafar sends into the cave gets crushed by sand.
* Cinderella – Her dad dies while away.
* Lady and the Tramp – Nutsy is put down.
* Sleeping Beauty – Malificent is stabbed in the chest with a sword while in Dragon form.
* The Princess and the Frog – Her dad died in an unexplained way.
* The Lion King – Mufasa is trampled to death. (Bonus for Scar being ripped apart by the hyenas.)
* Alice in Wonderland – Off with their heads!!!
* Tarzan – Holy hell! The villain is violently hung by a vine after falling a great distance. You can see the shadow of his limp body.
Honorable Mentions (nobody dies, but…)
* Peter Pan – Captain Hook is only chased by the crocodile at the end of the film, but could have easily been killed off screen. His hand was ripped off and eaten by the croc as the story states.
* 101 Dalmatians – Cruella De Vil wants to skin all of the dalmatians to make a coat.
* Pinocchio – Pinocchio dies by drowning (not sure how, he’s made of wood), but like Jesus, he gets better.
Make them watch The Neverending Story next.
I’m 37 and have still never seen this movie. I was allowed to watch movies like Nightmare on Elm Street, but Bambi was a hard no.
One time my daughter, nice, and nephew asked me what my favorite Disney character was. I said, the hunter that killed Babi’s mom. My sister wasn’t too happy about the answer.
With the amount of things kids are exposed to these days, the death of Bambies mother seems pretty minimal.
Agree with OP, they kinda need to know grandpa and grandma are gonna die sometime. So live in the moment and cherish all
An hour?? Doesn’t the mother die in the first few minutes of the movie? Cause that’s what sets off the whole storyline so the top photo was taken after that already happened
Edit: or am I totally trippin and I don’t remember the order of this movie lololol
Watching Ice Age, forgot which one.. the one with dinosaurs? Anyways they get eaten by a giant plant and when their first attempt to escape fails and they admit defeat, my kid stood up on his seat and let out a blood curdling NOOOO!
At least in Cinderella and finding Nemo they get the dead mom out of the way nice and early.
They dont know mom gonna get shot yet
