Best known? I didn’t know he played Sonny until today. I know him from Las Vegas and Elf.
Misery
He did a lovely little film called Cinderella Liberty.
Just watched Misery in his honour.
Every tribute that I am hearing mentions Sonny Corleone as his most iconic character. And if you love “The Godfather”, then this makes sense. But I am more moved by his portrayal of Brian Piccolo in “Brian’s Song”. And “Rollerball” remains as one of my most favorite guilty pleasures.

The Godfather, the greatest film of all time.
I still remember seeing “Rollerball” in the theater as a little kid and thinking “Yeah, sci-fi!!!” and being pretty freaking horrified by the on-rink death scene. Nobody mentions that flick much anymore, it was pretty grim!
