I have a 26” widescreen CRT that weighs 79.4 pounds(36kg)([had to look it up](https://i.imgur.com/pO8tpJu.jpg)). The other issue with carrying CRTs around is 70% of the weight is in the first 4” of the front of the tv. So they want to fall on their face the whole time.
I remember having a 40 something inch Sony Trinitron…had to throw out it out the window of the house because it was easier than carrying it down 3 flights to safely dispose
It wasn’t the totality of the weight per se, but that they were so front heavy where the glass was. The tv may weigh 70lbs which is certainly heavy for sure, but it was the fact that if you weren’t careful, you would drop it right on the screen.
Ha! I’m a 70’s kid, and you’d need two big guys to move the big wood cabinet console TV my parents had until around 1984. That TV had a remote that used ultrasonic sound (from a time before IR LEDs were used). The dog’s collar jingling would change the channel if he started scratching too close to the TV.
I had a 35″ CRT, I think it weighed about 300 lbs. That thing was a bitch to move. I could do it solo but I probably looked just like this guy when I did.
I had a 30something” CRT TV in my first apartment, back in the mid 00s.
When it came time to move out, I ended up leaving it there and letting my landlord dock my security deposit because there was no f’ing way I was moving it.
I had my family tv fall on me when switching the wires so I could play my Super Nintendo some time around 96. It was a 47incher and weighed probably 200+ pounds, I was 8 and weighed around 60 pounds. The tv fell off the entertainment center and fell straight back on me.. my knees hyperflexed underneath me as it crushed me, but luckily I was a spry little chap so it literally just bounced off of me.
In typical mid 90’s fashion my dad came in the room after hearing the crash (after explicitly telling me not to mess with the wires) and whipped my ass to a pulp.
Yep
This is accurate. When your 32″ tube TV weighs 65 pounds you make a face like that trying to wrestle it around.
Not only did those bastards weigh a ton, but the plastic supports underneath were fucking sharp. I cut my fingers to shreds moving a few of those.
Funny
Those Sony Vega flat screens, thick!
How about one with a bunch of red, white, and yellow cords, mixed with stereo cords for the surround sound.
We’ll done, hilarious
The struggle was real

Until you step on the cord that you always let drag.
True story!!
I had that exact model…[165lbs](https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/418893-REG/Sony_KD32FS170_KD_32FS170_32_Trinitron_WEGA.html), no handles, and awkward AF to grip. *shivers in PTSD*
Had that exact beast of a Sony

I had am old 34 inch Sony Vega and whenever I had to move it I used a handtruck due to it’s weight.
My family used to rent the VCRs from Blockbuster which came in huge hard cases. Oh,the 90s. Not the most efficient decade.
I used to bring my console AND tv over to my friends house.

Be careful not to step on the fkn cord as you transport. That could be the end of your tv…
You gotta hold it with the screen facing you. Still heavy but much easier.

What a time to be alive
Lmfao, I have that exact tv for my retro gaming setup. Can confirm, the thing is insane; an average person could not safely solo it lol
Omg. This brought back a forgotten memory when my brother knocked over the brand new 27” CRT tv.
Ah, my childhood.
Trinitron or Vega for life!
don’t forget the little sibling trailing behind holding just the cord
Lmao thanks for some funny memories
Just picked up a Sony KV-32HS420 Wega Trinitron the other day from Facebook marketplace. Pulled a muscle in my back but it was worth it.
90’s Photoshop too!
And the remotes had more buttons than the space shuttle
