Those aren’t hippies. They’re way too clean.
They’re just mod.
They’re waving at Marsha Brady
Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!
No, it was just hippie fashion. I remember the first kid who came to school with orange paisley bell bottoms. He was the coolest kid in school for about a day, til we found out he got em at K-Mart.
All the guys graduating in ’69: “Nice.”
The article in Life that this is from uses the word “groovy”, not “hippy”, ffs
Nope
the girl on the right is in a go go dress, the two on the left are doing “uniform dressing” with a hint of gogo mixed in. the back left in green is wearing a shift dress. the one with the colorful pants is mixing the androgynous style with gogo pants.
the one in white is a conservative linen flower child style but without all of the extra crap that a hippie would be wearing (like the flowers/beads) and the one in black is closest to an urban hippie but that style was more mod.
So nope, no hippies here, just highschoolers that probably went to one of the new shopping centers and bought outfits
